Brief CV

Roger Turner has more than 40 years worldwide experience in mine engineering, management, project finance, and project development in both open pit and underground mining. He is a graduate Mining Engineer from the Camborne School of Mines, with an MSc in Economic Geology from Leicester University; he is a member of, and was on the Governing Committee of, the Institution of Mining and Metallurgy in the UK. He was a Registered Professional Engineer of British Columbia, a Member of the Canadian Institute of Mining & Metallurgy and a Member of the Society of Mining Engineers of the US. He is a UK Chartered Engineer.

Early in his career he worked as a Mining Engineer and Mine Manager for Noranda, Hudson Bay Mining & Smelting and Granby Mining Corp in Canada; and in mine management at Kilembe Mine Uganda for Falconbridge East Africa.

He joined RTZ, London, where he was worked as the Senior Mining Engineer for RTZ Technical Services and was involved in RTZ projects and project assessments worldwide. He formed Turner & Associates, a mining consulting group, with clients such as Warrior International (now Standard Bank) and Samuel Montagu & Company (now HSBC) and Yorkton Securities.

In 1994 he was one of the founders of Nelson Gold Corporation (TSX) and was President and CEO. He was responsible for the financing, construction and start up of the Jilau gold mine in Tajikistan in 1995 with an annual production of 85,000 ounces of gold a year.

He was the founder of Oxus Gold Plc in 1996 and was the President and CEO from 1996 to 2003. Oxus obtained an AIM listing in 2000. He was responsible for the acquisition and development of the Amantaytau gold mine in Uzbekistan which came of stream at 200,000 ounces of gold a year of which Oxus had a 50% stake plus project management. Oxus also acquired a 67% interest in the Jerooy gold project in Kyrgyzstan and a 50% interest in the massive Khandizar VMS lead zinc deposit in Uzbekistan. 

Between 2004 and 2009 he was the Chairman of Minco Plc and CEO of Ovoca Gold Plc, both AIM listed resource development companies. Mr. Turner is currently a Director of Anglesey Mining plc; a Main Board London listed Company.
