Brief CV

Peter is a highly experienced mining engineer with 50 years experience in the mining industry, of which 40 years have been spent in senior management directing the exploration and operation of alluvial mines and dredging properties in many different countries. Prior to his recent resignation in May 2009, he was involved since 2006 as the resident manager and director for Consolidated Africa Mining Plc. on rutile exploration projects located in the Cameroon. His other assignments include a detailed technical assessment Mogbwemo Wet Sands Tailings Dredge Project for Titanium Resources Ltd of Sierra Leone and of the rehabilitation project for Tsar Emeralds at their Malyshev mine in Russia and a technical review of the Sierra Rutile dredging operations in Sierra Leone for the EU, the IFC and other senior Financial Institutions. He was involved with other investors in a proposed privatisation of Kariba Minerals Ltd, a state owned amythyst mine in Zambia preparing technical and mining studies for the future development of the property. Subsequently he was involved preparing similar assessments of the Kamakanga Emerald Mines in Zambia for private investors. In both cases the refurbishment of the old mines and treatment plants was critical to the development of the project. He has also reviewed the proposed mining methods for the Akonolinga rutile deposit in Central Cameroon for Australian investors and prepared a Dredging feasibility study and business plan for Ascendant Exploration of Ecuador for their alluvial gold deposit in Ecuador.. Following graduation from the University of Witwatersrand he started his career in 1959 with Anglo American on the Zambian Copperbelt before moving to alluvial mining with Osborne and Chappel in Malaysia. He then studied for his MSc at the Royal School of Mines before taking up the position of Technical Director of an alluvial tin mining company in Brazil where he remained there for 5 years. During this time he turned it from a loss to a highly profitable operation in a period of a year. This was followed by two years working for Shell Australia as Senior Project Manager for a bauxite project in Queensland ,Australia. A further nine years has been spent working on alluvial operations in various capacities including both management and consultancy. Since 1992 he has been an independent mining consultant engineer specialising in alluvial mining, mineral dredging and gemstone mining.
