Jean-Claude is a Belgium qualified Mining Engineer with 15 years mine operational experience in Africa (DRC / Congo, Zambia, Algeria) with major companies such as Union Miniere, Echo Bay Mining, ZCCM, Gecamines, and American Mineral Fields. In addition he has 20 years consultancy with a selction of groups including the World Bank / IFC as a mining adviser, MEGA International and as an independent adviser. Jean Claudes capabilities in operations include: - strong management skills from extensive field experience and supervision of small - to very large-scale surface and underground mining operations, including various leading positions, managing one of the world's largest mining operations (Kolwezi/Kambove/Kakanda/Kakontwe mines) - Significant experience in project management and the ability to develop a project from its conceptual design through engineering and construction to start up, operation and on site training. Senior consultancy assignments have included the: - Guidance and technical input for the preparation of numerous cost and feasibility studies. Managed and conducted a number of due diligence investigations and project appraisals involving technical, economic, environmental and financial evaluations of existing mining operations and new mineral prospects. Researched, developed, and devised innovative mining methods and project evaluation techniques. - Has held executive management positions and advised major senior executives on mineral resources management with focus on profitability and development of long term plans. Created, administered and directed a privately owned engineering firm. - Provided mining expertise and detailed technical, environmental and economic appraisals of projects to the largest multilateral financial institution lending to the private sector in the developing world. Performed technical, environmental and economic evaluations of mineral resources, exploration projects, operating mines, and acquisition opportunities worldwide for one of the North America’s leading gold producers. Led for an exploration company negotiations on a multibillion dollars project contract in Africa.
