Brief CV

Gavin Bowyer graduated from the University of London in 1969 with a BSc in Geology and has nearly 30 years of experience in the mineral industry in the exploration for and evaluation of metalliferous, energy and industrial mineral deposits. His experience covers the use of field mapping, geochemistry, geophysics, diamond and other drilling techniques, surface and underground mapping and sampling. He is experienced with ore body modelling techniques, mineral resources and ore reserves estimations; feasibility studies and technical audits. He has carried out bibliographic studies, prepared commodity reports and undertaken technical translation. From graduation, until April 1999, he was employed by IMC Mackay and Schnellmann (formerly Mackay & Schnellmann). He worked initially as a site geologist on a number of projects including iron ore exploration in Liberia, primary evaluation of base metal mineral claims in Western Australia, a lode tin project in Nigeria, copper exploration in UK and phosphate exploration in Bolivia. Subsequently, his responsibilities increased to the level of Project Management and since the late 1970’s his assignments have mainly involved consultancy and technical audits, while maintaining direct involvement in data collection through the management of specific exploration programmes. Most recently he has been the project manager for the independent technical review and valuation of the operations of PT Aneka Tambang, as part of the further privatisation of this diversified Indonesian mining company.
