David has recently been a member of a multi-disciplinary team with the remit to review and advise on the potential reinstatement of the Trepca lead and zinc mining and metallurgical operations in Kosovo. 1994 – 2001 Rio Tinto plc 1997 to 2001 as Technical Director and General Manager Asset Management of Palabora Mining Company, South Africa. Key roles were the technical and business evaluation for the modernization of the copper smelter complex and the reorganization of the Asset Management department. Additional responsibilities included the major plant refurbishment projects, the optimization of a vermiculite recovery plant and the commissioning and modification of a zirconium based chemicals plant. 1994 to 1997 as Principle Consultant – Manager at the Technical Services Group, England. Responsibilities covered the business evaluation of the Groups copper, nickel, gold, iron and steel, and ferro nickel mining and metallurgical interests. Billiton International Metals B.V. 1989 to 1993 Technical Manager of Cerro Matoso Nickel Project, Colombia. Responsibilities covered a feasibility study to expand the ferro nickel production and various process metallurgical development projects. 1980 to 1981 and 1985 to 1989 as a Billiton Process Engineer at the Groups Technical Services department, The Netherlands. Responsibilities covered technical development, project engineering and business evaluation of the Groups metallurgical interests. Activities included studies and technical support to the Groups copper, gold, gallium, magnesia, tin, lead and zinc interests. 1982 to 1984 as Technical Manager of Thailand Smelting and Refining Company (THAISARCO) Thailand. Responsible for the operations and engineering departments in the production of tin, tin-lead alloys and tantalum oxide slag. Activities included the reorganization of the departments and environmental improvement projects.
