  • Work type: World Wide Review of Coal Preparation Technology

Christopher Morgan was engaged as lead consultant to undertake a worldwide technology status review of coal preparation technology under contract to ETSU on behalf of the UK government.

Preliminary work covered preparation of a questionnaire that was submitted to major coal producers with coal preparation plants (CPP) in all the recognised coal-producing countries of the world, supported by direct interviews with a number of leading international coal companies. A database of CPPs and their flowsheet technology was constructed as the primary reference tool.

Questionnaires were also submitted to all major research institutions and departments working on coal preparation technology and when possible this was followed up by direct meetings.

The deliverables of the review include detailed descriptions of progress on all major coal preparation technology components and preparation of a report for formal publication through ETSU.
