CMA carried out a World Bank sponsored contract to advise Nigeria's Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) on the development of a clear, concise National Metals Policy to be passed through Parliament in order to speed up its privatisation programme of state iron & steel and aluminium processing companies, as well as to structure and encourage further metals sector development.

The assignment spanned some two months and included assessments of current and potential mineral resources, existing metals assets, Government aims and objectives and international competition in the metals sector. In addition, training was provided to selected BPE staff as well as to stakeholders via two discussion forums.
